Rehabilitation principles for brain cancer patients

Rehabilitation principles for brain cancer patients

Only by following certain principles during the rehabilitation process of brain cancer patients can they achieve better treatment results and prolong their survival time. The following four principles are mainly adhered to:

Principle of dedicated care

Patients in the recovery period cannot be left alone, especially those with functional impairments, who must be accompanied by someone to prevent them from falling. In addition, patients with obvious mood swings should be given more care and a good environment should be created to stabilize their emotions.

Adhere to the principles of rehabilitation training

Family members should understand the importance of rehabilitation training and cooperate with doctors to develop rehabilitation training plans, including cross-hand shaking, sitting up and getting out of bed, active training in daily activities within their capabilities, encouraging patients to take care of themselves, etc., and assisting doctors in making necessary modifications based on the degree of recovery of patients. Adherence to rehabilitation training can effectively prevent muscle disuse atrophy and prevent other diseases.

Reasonable diet principles

The patient's diet should be based on easily digestible foods rich in protein and vitamins, and eat more fruits and vegetables to keep the bowels open and reduce the chance of increased intracranial pressure.

Regular review principles

Postoperative radiotherapy is generally performed 2 weeks or 1 month after discharge. During radiotherapy, patients should avoid going to public places and have their blood counts checked regularly. Patients should avoid strenuous activities within 3 months after surgery and have regular outpatient follow-up visits to understand the changes in their condition in a timely manner and develop appropriate treatment plans. Generally, follow-up examinations are performed every 3 months, 6 months, and 2 years.
