Six advantages of interventional treatment for colon cancer

Interventional treatment for colon cancer is suitable for cases of intestinal stenosis and obstruction caused by tumor compression, and is helpful in alleviating constipation. The main method of interventional treatment is rectal stent placement, which involves placing a metal stent in the colon through the anus to expand the intestine and relieve blockage, thereby allowing stool to be discharged more smoothly.

In addition to indwelling stents, selective drug administration can also be performed through the tumor blood supply artery before surgery to increase the local concentration of the tumor drug, improve the efficacy, quickly kill cancer cells, shrink the tumor, and create the best time for surgery. The advantages of interventional therapy over other treatment methods in the treatment of mid- to late-stage colon cancer are:

1. Less trauma

The skin wound is only about 2mm and the patient suffers little pain.

2. Minimally invasive interventional treatment has high repeatability

It is not limited by the metabolic cycle of tumor cells. According to the condition and treatment needs, it can be treated in stages, multiple times, and repeatedly to treat multiple or recurring tumor nodules.

3. Real-time efficacy evaluation

Under the monitoring of modern imaging equipment (DSA), accurate real-time efficacy assessment is performed.

4. Little side effects

Interventional treatment of colon cancer requires small amounts of medication, has high local drug concentrations, does not cause drug resistance, and has few side effects.

5. Strong targeting (specificity)

Interventional treatment of colon cancer can accurately locate and treat, directly cutting off the blood supply to the tumor, "starving" the tumor cells to death, with minimal damage to normal tissue.

6. Fast recovery

Normal activities can usually be resumed 12 hours after surgery.
