Four treatments for mid-to-late stage colon cancer

Colon cancer is a type of colorectal cancer and a common digestive tract tumor. The treatment of mid- to late-stage colon cancer is relatively complicated, mainly including surgical treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, interventional treatment and traditional Chinese medicine treatment.

1. Surgical treatment

In the treatment of mid-to-late stage colon cancer, surgery can only remove local tumor lesions, but cannot eliminate cancer cells in the blood and a large number of dormant cells and milligram cancers that have metastasized to other parts of the human body. Metastasis and recurrence are very likely to occur after surgery. Therefore, consolidation treatment should be carried out in time after surgery to prevent recurrence and metastasis and improve the treatment effect.

2. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy

Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the most important auxiliary treatments for advanced colon cancer. However, the effective dose of chemotherapy for colon cancer is very close to the toxic dose, and it has great toxic side effects, among which the most obvious reactions are impaired digestive function and suppressed bone marrow hematopoietic function, which often make it difficult for colon cancer patients to accept chemotherapy or unable to complete the entire course of treatment due to severe reactions.

3. Interventional treatment

Minimally invasive interventional therapy is currently the most advanced treatment for mid- to late-stage colon cancer, with significant results and recognized by the medical community. While using interventional catheter technology, it is also necessary to consider the individual situation of cancer patients in an all-round way, and plan and rationally use surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biological immunotherapy, focused ultrasound thermal therapy, traditional Chinese medicine and other treatment methods according to the tumor pathology type, stage of the disease and development trend to improve the cure rate, improve the patient's quality of life and prolong the patient's survival.

4. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

In clinical practice, chemotherapy for colon cancer is often combined with traditional Chinese medicine to strengthen the body, which can significantly reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, improve the efficacy of chemotherapy, and ensure the smooth implementation of the treatment plan. Traditional Chinese medicine can also be used for colon cancer treatment after surgery. Patients with colon cancer are physically weak after surgery, and traditional Chinese medicine can improve the patient's immunity and enhance the body's positive energy.
