“Two-pronged approach” in liver cancer treatment

“Two-pronged approach” in liver cancer treatment

The treatment of liver cancer requires dialectics, the organic combination of Chinese and Western medicine, some basic principles and constantly changing coping strategies.

Western medicine fights cancer and treats symptoms, while traditional Chinese medicine treats liver disease and prevents recurrence and treats the root cause. Make full use of the different advantages of Chinese and Western medicine, effectively integrate them, and make the best use of their strengths and avoid their weaknesses. For patients in the early and middle stages, first use Western medicine, focusing on suppressing and killing cancer tumors and reducing the burden of intrahepatic cancer, while using Chinese medicine to protect the liver and reduce toxicity and increase efficacy. Once the traumatic treatment of Western medicine comes to an end, traditional Chinese medicine will be used as the main method to suppress tumors with zero toxicity, combined with syndrome differentiation and treatment, which will not only gently clean up the residual cancer cells, but also effectively protect the liver and fight viruses, block the process of liver damage, and prevent the emergence of new cancer foci. Once new lesions appear, Western medicine will still be used for local tumor treatment; and the focus is still on suppressing tumors with zero toxicity, protecting the liver, reversing the process of liver cirrhosis or fibrosis, and reducing the possibility of new lesions. After 2 to 3 years of treatment, it is often possible to effectively eliminate intrahepatic lesions, fundamentally improve the texture and function of the liver, and fundamentally avoid the consequences of recurrence and metastasis of liver cancer.

In the treatment of primary liver cancer, TCM zero-toxic tumor suppression is mainly reflected in the whole process of traditional treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. The use of zero-toxic tumor suppression before surgery can control the further development of liver tumors, provide opportunities for surgery and improve the surgical resection rate; for individual patients who have lost the possibility of surgery, it can play a palliative role and even create conditions for surgical resection. After surgery, it can increase physical fitness and accelerate the healing of wounds, which is conducive to the implementation of comprehensive postoperative treatment. During chemotherapy and the treatment vacuum during the interval of chemotherapy, it can reduce the metastasis and recurrence of liver cancer. At the same time, it has a clear liver-protecting effect, which can often reverse liver cirrhosis to a certain extent and greatly reduce the possibility of intrahepatic recurrence. In combination with intervention and various minimally invasive therapies, it can also improve the efficacy and improve the quality of life. In addition, for patients with advanced liver cancer, the use of this method can improve their quality of life and prolong their survival with cancer.
