Fiber colonoscopy helps you detect colon cancer

Fiberscope is a flexible, soft optical fiberscope that can observe the colon comprehensively and carefully, take photos, videos and take biopsies. It is the most effective modern tool for examining colon lesions, especially colon cancer.

When should you have a colonoscopy?

In clinical diagnosis, many patients are afraid to undergo colonoscopy. Some patients think that colonoscopy is the last checkpoint in diagnosing colon diseases and are reluctant to undergo the examination. These ideas are completely wrong. In fact, as long as there is blood in the stool or changes in bowel habits, and no abnormalities are found in the rectal digital examination, fiber colonoscopy should be performed routinely. This can not only detect various types of colon lesions, but also take tissue biopsies to clarify the diagnosis, so as to avoid missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis, so as to achieve early detection and avoid missing the best time to discover malignant diseases.

Colonoscopy preparation

In terms of diet, it is advisable to eat semi-liquid food with less residue 1 to 2 days before surgery. Less residue means less dietary fiber. Such a diet can reduce irritation to the intestines and slow down intestinal peristalsis.

The intestines should be cleaned 3 hours before the examination. The common method is to take 250 ml of 20% mannitol orally, and then quickly drink 1 liter of sugar water or sugar and salt water. Laxatives or enema can also be used to clean the intestines.

Combined with other examinations of the patient, determine whether there are contraindications such as severe cardiopulmonary insufficiency, acute peritonitis, intestinal perforation, extensive intra-abdominal adhesions, anal and intestinal stenosis, etc.

Before the operation, sedatives, analgesics and spasmolytics such as diazepam, pethidine and atropine can be injected intramuscularly to ensure the smooth progress of the examination.
