Several common pancreatic cancer markers

Several common pancreatic cancer markers

Tumor markers are often involved in the diagnosis of cancer, and pancreatic cancer is no exception. Pancreatic cancer markers are also often used in the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. The following are commonly used:

1. Lactoferrin

The lactoferrin in the pure pancreatic juice obtained by endoscopy is used for radioimmunoassay, and the lactoferrin is labeled with 125I. The antiserum is made by immunizing sheep with pure lactoferrin isolated from human milk. The sensitivity is very high. The average value of normal pancreas is 83μg/L, and that of pancreatic cancer and chronic pancreatitis is 105μg/L and 2240μg/L respectively. This is a method worth continuing to explore.

2. Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)

The CEA value of 80%~90% pancreatic cancer exceeds 2.5ng/ml, but it lacks specificity. It is also increased in primary or metastatic colorectal cancer and other non-digestive tumors. If the CEA value exceeds 10ng/ml and pancreatic abnormalities are found by B-ultrasound, CT or endoscopy, the possibility of pancreatic cancer increases.

3. Pancreatic cancer associated antigen (PCAA)

Its value increases with the progression of pancreatic cancer and has high specificity. It can be used as a marker for further research on the etiology, histopathological grading and early cancer metastasis of pancreatic cancer.

4. Pancreatic fetal antigen (POA)

It is mainly found in fetal pancreas and adult pancreatic cancer tissues, and trace amounts can be found in adult colon and small intestine extracts. The concentration of POA in patient serum is measured by quantitative rocket immunoelectrophoresis, with a normal value of 0-4 units. The POA value of 40%-60% pancreatic cancer can exceed 14 units. Like CEA, its clinical application value also lacks specificity.
