What are the treatment methods for kidney cancer? Generally, these 4 methods are used.

Surgery is a common method for treating kidney cancer. The more common surgeries include nephron-sparing surgery and radical nephrectomy. You can also choose targeted drug therapy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. When kidney cancer develops to the late stage, palliative treatment can also be chosen.

Bad living habits, obesity, high blood pressure and other chronic diseases may induce kidney cancer. Because of impaired kidney function, coupled with distant metastasis, it may be life-threatening, so timely treatment is required. So what are the methods for treating kidney cancer?

1. Surgical treatment

This is a commonly used method for treating kidney cancer. If the kidney cancer is still in its early stages, you can choose kidney-preserving surgery, radical nephrectomy, etc., which can achieve good prognosis results. If kidney cancer develops to the middle and late stages and there are surgical indications, you can choose radical nephrectomy to prolong survival.

2. Targeted drug therapy

If kidney cancer has developed to an advanced stage and there is no indication for surgery, targeted therapy can be chosen. Using targeted drugs to selectively kill cancer cells can shrink the tumor and prolong survival.

3. Chemoradiotherapy

This is also a commonly used method for treating kidney cancer. After surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be used as auxiliary treatment to kill residual cancer cells and reduce the recurrence rate. When surgery is not possible, choosing radiotherapy and chemotherapy can also effectively fight cancer and prolong survival.

4. Palliative care

When kidney cancer develops to the late stage and cannot be treated surgically, interventional therapy can be chosen. This is a palliative treatment that can improve the patient's quality of life.
