What does ect mean? What should we pay attention to during ect inspection?

Many diseases need to be examined by scientific medical means before they can be diagnosed. ECT is one of the examination methods. ECT, also known as emission computed tomography, is a method of examination using radioactive nuclides, mainly used for the examination of thyroid cancer and bone tumors.

Nowadays, medical technology is getting higher and higher, and many diseases can be diagnosed through scientific examinations. After falling ill, doctors often use modern examination methods to help patients clarify the diagnosis and cause of the disease according to the specific condition, so as to better treat the symptoms. ECT is one of the examination methods. So what does ECT mean?

1. What does ect mean?

ECT, also known as emission computed tomography, is a common bone scan method, mainly used to examine thyroid cancer, bone tumors and other parts of the body. Before doing an ECT examination, radioactive nuclides must be injected into the patient's body. After entering the body, the nuclides will undergo a short metabolism, which will form concentration differences in the body. These differences can be measured through ECT examinations, and then the images are processed by computers, so that doctors can understand the patient's specific condition.

2. ECT inspection precautions

1. Precautions for cerebral blood flow tomography examination

One or two days before the CT scan, patients should stop taking drugs that dilate cerebral blood vessels, otherwise it will affect the sensitivity of the test. Within half an hour to an hour before the injection of the contrast agent, potassium perchlorate should be taken orally as prescribed by the doctor. The purpose of this is to block the choroid plexus and thyroid gland to reduce the interference caused by them, thereby ensuring the accuracy of the test results.

2. Precautions for myocardial perfusion imaging examination

The day before the myocardial perfusion imaging examination, you must stop taking nitroglycerin and drugs such as Diaoxin. If you are doing an exercise stress test, it is best to stop taking drugs such as propranolol and bisoprolol two days before. During the examination, you should try to keep your breathing stable to reduce the impact of cardiac diaphragmatic movement on myocardial imaging. If you have a pacemaker installed, you should inform your doctor in advance, which will help the doctor to refer to the analysis of the image.

3. Precautions for whole-body bone scintigraphy

You need to drink more water within two hours after the injection of the contrast agent, and ensure that the amount of water you drink is more than 500 ml. You need to empty your bladder before the examination. If the clothes or skin are contaminated by urine, they should be cleaned and changed in time before the examination. You cannot do a barium meal or barium enema examination two days before the examination, otherwise it will affect the overall examination results.
