What are the symptoms of cervical cancer? What are the treatments for cervical cancer?

Everyone is familiar with cervicitis. The existence of cervicitis seriously threatens our health. The occurrence of cervical disease may be damaged by unclean sexual life, miscarriage or childbirth, or it may form acute cervicitis due to pathogen invasion. If it is not diagnosed and treated in time, it will develop into chronic cervicitis. So what are the symptoms of cervical cancer? Let's take a look.

What are the symptoms of cervical cancer?

Increased vaginal discharge

Most patients with cervical cancer have varying degrees of increased vaginal discharge. In the early stages, due to the presence of cancer, the cervical glands are stimulated to secrete hyperfunction, producing mucous leucorrhea. As the cancer progresses, cancerous tissue necroses and falls off, and secondary infection occurs, the leucorrhea becomes turbid, like rice water or pus-like with blood, and has a special stench.

Irregular vaginal bleeding

Early symptoms include a small amount of bloody leucorrhea and contact vaginal bleeding. Patients often experience a small amount of vaginal bleeding after sexual intercourse or defecation. People with vaginal bleeding after menopause should pay attention to finding the cause. Vaginal bleeding from cervical cancer is often very irregular, usually less at first and then more, sometimes more and sometimes less. Cauliflower bleeding occurs early and in large amounts. After advanced cancer erodes large blood vessels, it can cause fatal large amounts of vaginal bleeding. Due to long-term and repeated bleeding, patients often develop secondary anemia.

3. Pain

Cancer compresses the pelvic nerves, causing pain in the lower abdomen, lower back, or thighs. If cancer invades the rectum, early symptoms include difficulty in defecation and swollen anus. If cancer compresses the bladder, early symptoms include frequent urination, urgency, pain, and hematuria.

4. Mucus flowing from the cervix

Purulent or sticky mucus may also be seen flowing out of the cervix, or the mucus may remain on the surface of and around the cervix, and some patients may smell a pubic odor.

Treatment options for cervical cancer

1. Radiotherapy for cervical cancer: Radiotherapy is suitable for all stages of cervical cancer, even advanced cervical cancer. Radiotherapy is a good way to treat cervical cancer for the elderly, who have poor heart function and cannot tolerate surgery. However, radiotherapy has certain complications, mainly radiation rectal and cystitis, which require active treatment and recovery to slowly recover.

2. Surgical treatment of cervical cancer: Surgery is suitable for early cervical cancer. The scope of surgery is radical uterine surgery. The uterus, part of the vagina and parauterine tissue should be removed together. At the same time, bilateral pelvic lymph nodes should be removed. Those with no ovarian lesions can consider retaining them. The advantage of surgical treatment of cervical cancer is that in early cases, one operation can completely remove the cancerous lesions and the treatment period is short, but it takes a long time of rest and exercise to return to normal.

3. Hormone therapy for cervical cancer: Hormone therapy for cervical cancer and other cytotoxic anticancer chemotherapy are considered palliative rather than radical. Currently, there are many kinds of progesterone preparations that are most commonly used. Estrogen antagonists are effective for recurrent lesions where the primary tumor is estrogen receptor-positive, or when progesterone therapy fails.
