Heart failure grade four

Heart failure grade four

After heart failure occurs, people should want to treat it with the most effective method. However, each case of heart failure is different, because some cases of heart failure may have different levels of problems, and the symptoms for each level should be different. Moreover, the treatments for different levels of heart failure are certainly not the same. Once the heart develops a disease problem such as heart failure, regular maintenance is required. Or maybe we should take more precautions in daily life, so what is the four-level heart failure classification?

1. Diagnosis of congestive heart disease: It is often not difficult to diagnose if there is a history of heart disease and symptoms and signs of left or right heart. X-ray examination of the heart and lungs is also helpful for diagnosis, and hemodynamic monitoring can be performed to confirm the diagnosis when necessary.

2. Determination of degree: Clinically, the patient's heart function is divided into four levels. If it is divided, it is divided into three degrees. Level 2 heart function is equivalent to level 1, and the rest are similar.

The heart function level 1 has cardiovascular function, but all labor is not restricted (no symptoms).

People with level 2 heart function can perform general daily work, but strenuous physical activities may cause symptoms of heart failure such as palpitations and shortness of breath.

People with level three heart function do not feel any discomfort when resting, but will show signs of heart failure when doing normal daily activities.

In heart function level 4, any activity will cause symptoms, and even when resting in bed, there will be symptoms of heart failure.

symptom

The symptoms will vary depending on which side of the heart is at fault. If both sides have problems, symptoms will appear on both sides.

The left side of the heart pumps blood from the lungs to the organs. Failure of the left side of the heart causes congestion in the pulmonary veins, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the tissues. The main respiratory symptoms are shortness of breath and, in severe cases, coma. Orthopnea can reduce shortness of breath while lying down, measuring the number of pillows needed to lie comfortably. Paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea is severe cessation of breathing that occurs during the night, usually within a few hours of falling asleep. Inadequate circulation in the body causes dizziness, confusion, sweating, and cold extremities.

The right side of the heart pumps blood from the tissues to the lungs to exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen. Therefore, heart failure causes congestion of peripheral tissues. This can lead to peripheral fluid filling or generalized edema and nocturia. In severe cases, it can lead to abdominal effusion and hepatomegaly.

Decompensation can easily lead to heart failure. Heart failure may result from intermittent illnesses (such as pneumonia), but especially from myocardial infarction, anemia, hyperthyroidism, or arrhythmias, which place greater stress on the heart muscle and often make the condition worse rapidly. Large amounts of water or salt intake (including intravenous infusions) and medications that cause fluid retention (such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics and thiazolidinediones) can also lead to decompensation.

sign

Medical staff watch for specific signs to determine whether a person has heart failure. Signs of decompensation include apex beats and gallop rhythms. A heart murmur may indicate valve disease. Valvular disease may cause heart failure (such as aortic stenosis) or be a consequence of it (such as mitral regurgitation).

The main signs of left-sided heart failure are pulmonary edema, pleural effusion, and cyanosis.

Signs of right-sided heart failure include peripheral edema, peritoneal effusion, and hepatomegaly, with increased venous pressure, hepatojugular reflux, and a parasternal heave.
