Is lung cancer highly contagious? Three things lung cancer patients must know

In recent years, the number of people suffering from lung cancer in my country has increased. Therefore, more and more people have begun to pay attention to lung cancer. So, is lung cancer contagious? If you don’t know the relevant knowledge about lung cancer, I believe that through our introduction below, you will be able to deepen your understanding of it.

First, transmission, in simple terms, is a disease that is transmitted from one person to another through a certain medium. For transmission to occur, there must be three conditions: a source of infection, a transmission route, and a susceptible population. Without any of these conditions, transmission is impossible. According to clinical evidence, cancer patients themselves are not sources of infection, so cancer is not contagious.

Second, the patient develops cancer because of the abnormal proliferation of local cells in the body under the influence of multiple carcinogenic factors, which loses the dynamic regulation and morphology of normal cells and eventually forms a malignant tumor. Cancer cells discharged through sputum will quickly degenerate or necrotize due to factors such as water evaporation. Even cancer cells in fresh sputum will not grow and reproduce without certain nutritional supply and specific conditions. Therefore, the infectiousness of lung cancer cannot be established.

3. In animal experiments, animals with tumors will not directly infect animals without tumors. Regarding the problem of malignant tumors appearing one after another in family members, this may be related to the fact that family members share genes or are in the same carcinogenic environment, such as being exposed to certain radioactive substances or smoking, and has nothing to do with cancer itself.
