Does pain in the liver area necessarily mean liver cancer? Doing these two tests can diagnose liver cancer the fastest

Does liver pain mean liver cancer? Experts say that about 80 to 90 percent of hepatitis B and liver cancer patients experience liver pain. This pain is characterized by chronic, persistent dull pain, and is accompanied by fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and poor appetite. When bleeding occurs under the liver capsule or blood passes through the liver capsule into the abdominal cavity, the pain in the liver area worsens, accompanied by epigastric tenderness, muscle tightness, and other peritoneal symptoms, which are difficult to bear.

In addition, liver cancer patients may also experience the following symptoms:

1. Fever

A large number of liver cancer patients will have a low fever without chills, and a small number of patients will have a high fever, which can reach above 39°C. Most liver cancer fevers are cancerous fevers, which are caused by the release of pyrogens into the blood circulation after tumor tissue necrosis.

2. Weight loss and fatigue

The cause of fatigue is not clear yet. It may be due to digestive dysfunction, impaired nutrient absorption leading to energy deficiency, or liver cell damage leading to decreased liver function, resulting in metabolic disorders and failure to inactivate certain toxins in time, or the release of toxic substances due to necrosis of liver cancer tissue.

3. Lower limb edema

Most patients with liver cancer will experience lower limb edema. Mild cases mainly affect the ankles, while severe cases may affect the entire lower limbs. Some patients also have severe lower limb edema, with fluid seeping out of the thigh skin.

4. Digestive tract symptoms

Loss of appetite, worse after meals. Upper abdominal distension. Warm breath, indigestion, nausea, fatigue, weight loss, etc. are the early digestive tract symptoms of liver cancer, among which loss of appetite and abdominal distension are the most common. Diarrhea is also a common early symptom of liver cancer.

5. Other symptoms

The pain in the right upper abdomen is mainly characterized by persistent dull pain in the liver area, especially at night and after fatigue.

If you suspect liver cancer, you can do the following tests to confirm it:

1. Ultrasound examination is the most common examination in the diagnosis of liver cancer. It is widely used in the screening of liver cancer and follow-up after treatment because of its simple operation, low price, convenience, non-invasiveness and no side effects on the human body.

2. CT examination plays a very important role in the diagnosis of liver cancer. Through abdominal CT enhanced scanning, the specific situation of the tumor can be clearly seen: location, shape, size, number, richness of tumor blood supply and the relationship between intrahepatic ducts. It is very helpful for the staging of liver cancer, further diagnosis, guidance of subsequent treatment and judgment of prognosis.

How to treat liver cancer after being diagnosed?

Generally speaking, surgery is the preferred method for treating liver cancer. Patients with good cardiopulmonary function, no tumor metastasis, and relatively limited tumors can achieve a relatively good treatment effect after surgical treatment. However, patients with hepatitis, cirrhosis, poor physical fitness, etc. are not suitable for surgical treatment. At this time, radiotherapy is a very good choice. As for radiotherapy, the technology has improved rapidly in recent years. Many patients with early small liver cancer who are not suitable for surgery can be cured through radiotherapy. But no matter which treatment is taken, it needs to be combined with traditional Chinese medicine treatment to reduce side effects and consolidate the effect.

In addition, to prevent liver cancer, you must do three things:

Facing such a high incidence of diseases, we should take preventive measures. First of all, we should regularly vaccinate against hepatitis B. Children must be vaccinated from an early age, which blocks a major path to liver cancer. Secondly, we must develop healthy eating habits, avoid eating moldy food, especially stay away from carcinogens such as aflatoxin, try to avoid drinking ditch water, deep well water, and drink less alcohol. Finally, we should have regular physical examinations, especially hepatitis B patients should have regular follow-up examinations to prevent liver cirrhosis.
