What foods can't thyroid cancer patients eat

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor that originates from the thyroid follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells. In addition to being a malignant tumor, it also has many functional properties and is related to thyroid function. In terms of diet, you need to pay attention to avoiding eating foods high in iodine, spicy and irritating foods, as well as raw, cold, and greasy foods, so as not to aggravate the condition.

1. Foods high in iodine: such as kelp, laver, sea cucumber, dried shrimp, hairtail, etc. These foods are high in iodine and should be avoided by people with hyperthyroidism. People with thyroid cancer should eat less or no iodine to avoid worsening their condition.

2. Spicy and irritating foods: such as chili peppers, onions, ginger, pepper, garlic, mustard, etc. Due to the presence of thyroid nodules or abnormal thyroid function in patients with thyroid cancer, eating spicy and irritating foods may aggravate the condition, so it is not recommended to eat them;

3. Raw, cold, and greasy foods: such as ice cream, cold drinks, fried dough sticks, fried chicken, etc. Since thyroid cancer patients have weak gastrointestinal function, they may experience symptoms such as indigestion after eating such foods, which will affect the absorption of nutrients and is not conducive to recovery.

During the treatment period after thyroid cancer surgery, you should also try to avoid eating hard food, spicy food, greasy food, etc., so as not to affect the recovery after surgery. In addition to diet, thyroid cancer patients should also pay attention to keeping warm, avoid catching cold, strictly follow the doctor's instructions for treatment, and regularly check thyroid function to understand the recovery situation.
