What treatments cannot be done for thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells of the thyroid gland. It is often manifested clinically as a painless neck mass, which may be accompanied by symptoms such as hoarseness, dysphagia, and dyspnea. The treatment of thyroid cancer mainly includes surgical treatment, radionuclide therapy, endocrine and external radiation therapy, immune and targeted therapy, etc. In addition to the above treatment methods, there are other treatments, such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, etc.

1. Surgical treatment: Surgery is the preferred treatment for thyroid cancer. Commonly used surgical methods include total thyroidectomy, lateral neck lymph node dissection, unilateral thyroidectomy, etc.

2. Radionuclide therapy: Radionuclide therapy can be used to treat suppressed goiter or recurrent lesions after surgery, and can also be used to treat benign thyroid nodules. It has good efficacy, but may cause permanent hypothyroidism;

3. Endocrine and external radiation therapy: including external radiation and particle implantation. External radiation mainly uses beta radiation to cause thyroid tissue cells to degenerate and necrotize, thereby achieving the purpose of treatment. Particle implantation can be used for palliative treatment of local tumors after surgery, as well as radionuclide therapy for patients who cannot undergo surgery;

4. Immunotherapy and targeted therapy: Commonly used immunotherapy drugs include rituximab injection, etc., and targeted therapy drugs include erlotinib hydrochloride tablets, etc.

In addition to the common treatments mentioned above, there are also chemotherapy, targeted therapy and other methods. Patients can also undergo chemotherapy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy combined with radiation therapy under the guidance of a doctor to improve the treatment effect.
