Will parents' severe myopia be passed down to their children?

High myopia of parents will be passed on to their children. In my country, 1/5 of the general population are carriers of the myopia gene. Children born to parents with high myopia have a 90% chance of developing high myopia. Therefore, if myopia runs in the family, you should also pay attention to prevention.

1. Among the general population in my country, about 1/5 are carriers of the myopia gene.

2. High myopia is an autosomal recessive genetic disease, which means that the disease will only occur when both genes related to myopia are pathogenic genes. If only one of the genes is pathogenic and the other gene is normal, the person will not develop the disease and will be a carrier of the pathogenic gene. For example, neither parent is nearsighted, but they are both carriers of high myopia genes. They themselves do not show myopia, but their disease-causing genes are passed on to their children, making the children have two myopia genes, thus making the children nearsighted.

3. When a man with severe myopia marries a woman with severe myopia (over 600 degrees), the chance of their children developing the disease is over 90%. If a couple marries a myopia gene carrier, half of their children may be severely myopic. However, if they marry a couple with normal vision or moderate to low myopia, the chance of their children developing myopia is 1/10.

4. Eye shape is hereditary, and big eyes are dominant over small eyes. This is undoubtedly a happy thing for people with small eyes. No matter what they are like, as long as their spouse has big eyes, the possibility of their children having big eyes is greater.

5. If your baby is born with single eyelids, don’t worry too much, maybe it will change! According to statistics, only 20% of infants have double eyelids, 40% of middle school students, and about 50% of college students.

6. The inheritance of eye color follows the rule that dark colors such as black are dominant over light colors. That is to say, if you envy blue eyes, even if you choose a lover with blue eyes, because you have black eyes, the child you give birth to will not have blue eyes.

Long eyelashes are also dominant.

If both parents are black, the child cannot be white.

The son of a father with a pointy chin is likely to have a pointy chin as well.

70% of height comes from the inheritance of parents;

If both parents are fat, 53% of their children will be fat.

Baldness: more than 50% is inherited and can be passed down from generation to generation;

Voice: Boys inherit from their fathers, girls from their mothers.
