Can Sichuan pepper cure toothache

Sichuan peppercorns are a common kitchen condiment that can remove fishy smells and enhance flavor. Sichuan peppercorns are used in folk remedies to treat toothaches, but dentists generally do not recommend doing so because Sichuan peppercorns may sometimes have adverse effects on the oral mucosa. Therefore, it is generally not recommended to do so. When toothache occurs, formal treatment is still required, and you should go to the hospital for examination in time.

Can Sichuan pepper cure toothache?

An old man came to see a doctor because of oral mucosal pain. Examination revealed that there was a large area of erosion and congestion in the oral mucosa, which was obviously painful to touch. I learned from the old man that because he did not go to the hospital for timely treatment of his toothache, he believed the folk remedy in the book and soaked peppercorns in strong liquor and then gargled with it in his mouth. As a result, not only did the toothache not get cured, but the oral mucosa was also burned.

As the saying goes, "Toothache is not a disease, but it is really painful when it happens!" Among the people, there are many people in the dental department who use the above methods to relieve toothache but cause mucosal erosion. However, dentists do not recommend that people do this. Although Sichuan pepper has anesthetic effects and contains anti-inflammatory and analgesic ingredients, it can only stop very mild pain. Sichuan pepper is useless for severe pain such as pulpitis. The epithelium of the oral mucosa is very fragile, and the alcohol in strong liquor strongly irritates the oral mucosa, causing erosion of the oral mucosa.

Dentists don't recommend this.

When toothache cannot be treated promptly, if you use pepper and wine to relieve toothache, please use white wine with a slightly lower alcohol content instead of strong liquor. The correct way to use the folk remedy is to dip it on a cotton swab and apply it around the painful area, rather than gargling for a long time. The longer the gargling time, the greater the irritation to the mucous membrane. Moreover, this method is only suitable for mild toothache. If the pain is serious, please go to the hospital for treatment in time.
