How to determine the recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

How to determine the recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma?

The recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma can be determined through general symptoms, fiberoptic nasopharyngeal endoscopy, imaging examinations and other examinations.

1. General symptoms:

Patients can observe whether the nasal cavity often has nasal bleeding, and whether there is blood in the oral secretions when they suck their nose hard in the morning.

2. Fiber nasopharyngeal endoscope:

Patients can go to the hospital for a fiberoptic nasopharyngeal endoscopy to observe whether there are signs of tumor recurrence in the nasopharynx.

3. Imaging examination:

Since nasopharyngeal cancer is located deep and difficult to see during routine examinations, patients are advised to undergo nasopharyngeal MRI examinations. Compared with CT examinations, MRI examinations are clearer and easier to detect early lesions.

4. Other inspections:

For example, Epstein-Barr virus testing, because Epstein-Barr virus has a certain relationship with the incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, if the Epstein-Barr virus antibody titer increases, it also indicates the possibility of recurrence.

Nasal cancer refers to malignant tumors of the nose. The cause is still unclear. It may be related to long-term chronic inflammatory stimulation, frequent exposure to carcinogens, benign tumors, radiation exposure, trauma and other factors. The patient's symptoms are non-specific nasal manifestations such as unilateral runny nose and nasal congestion. Some patients may also experience pain and tearing. Timely treatment is required, and anterior rhinoscopy, posterior rhinoscopy, nasal endoscopy, pathological examination, etc. can be performed. After a clear diagnosis, surgical treatment can be taken, and chemotherapy, radiotherapy and other treatments can be combined after surgery to prevent recurrence.
