How is undifferentiated nonkeratinous nasopharyngeal carcinoma treated?

1. Radiation therapy

2. Chemotherapy

It is mainly used for advanced cases. It is an adjuvant or palliative treatment for cases that cannot be controlled and relapse after radiotherapy.

3. Combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy

Radioactive and chemical drugs can be used for advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Literature reports that the effect of combined treatment is significantly better than single treatment.

4. Surgical treatment

1 Indications It is not the main treatment method and is only performed in a few cases. Its indications are as follows: localized lesions in the nasopharynx do not disappear or recur after radiotherapy. Metastatic lymph nodes in the neck, which do not disappear after radiotherapy, are active and isolated with fast encapsulation, the original nasopharynx is controlled, and the cleaning of the neck lymph nodes is feasible.

2 Contraindications include skull base bone injury or nasopharyngeal infiltration, cranial nerve injury or distant metastasis. Poor general condition or poor liver and kidney function. There are other contraindications to surgery.

5. Immunotherapy

There are interferon inducers, phytohemagglutinin-tumor seedlings, etc. It is still in the exploratory stage.

How should I take care of myself in daily life?

1. Mental care for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients: relieve mental stress and eliminate the adverse consequences of tension, anxiety and fear. Please introduce treatment experience, explain tumors and treatment knowledge to patients, and enhance patients' confidence in overcoming cancer.

2. Skin care for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma: Keep wild skin clean and dry, avoid using alkaline soaps, ointments, and cosmetics, prevent mechanical stimulation, friction, and scratching, avoid hot compresses, apply peppermint starch for local itching, and apply hydrogen oil for slight exudation or rupture.

Radiation therapy, chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy are the treatments for the disease in patients with undifferentiated nonkeratinous NPC.
