How long is the life expectancy of early nasopharyngeal cancer? How to check?

Some people worry that once they have cancer, their life will end quickly and they will be depressed all day long. Here is an introduction to how long the life expectancy of early nasopharyngeal cancer is and how to check it?

The life expectancy of nasopharyngeal cancer patients depends on the period of treatment and whether the treatment method is appropriate. Generally, patients with nasopharyngeal cancer who receive active treatment in the early stage can completely eliminate cancer cells and achieve recovery. If a patient is found to have early nasopharyngeal cancer, he should go to the hospital for treatment in time.

The cure rate of early nasopharyngeal carcinoma is about 70%. As long as it can be discovered early and an effective and reasonable treatment plan is adopted, cancer can be effectively controlled. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients should treat the disease with a good attitude and receive regular treatment as soon as possible.

So, how do general hospitals perform nasopharyngeal cancer examinations?

1. Posterior rhinoscopy is convenient and easy to perform. Small nodules or granuloma-like protrusions can be seen in the pharyngeal recess and the anterior wall of the nasopharyngeal roof. The surface is rough and uneven, easy to bleed, and sometimes appears as submucosal protrusions. Early atypical lesions only show mucosal congestion, vascular distension, or a fuller pharyngeal recess on one side, which requires attention.

2. Fiber nasopharyngeal endoscopy is helpful in detecting early tiny lesions, especially for patients with strong pharyngeal reflex or difficulty opening the mouth. If suspicious lesions are found, biopsy should be performed in time.

3. Biopsy is the basis for the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The biopsy is taken through the nasal cavity or oropharynx under open vision. For submucosal protrusions, a puncture needle can be used to obtain submucosal tumor tissue for pathology.

4. Exfoliated cytology is usually performed under local anesthesia using foam plastics, sponges or negative pressure suction to take specimens from the nasopharynx for smear examination of cancer cells. The detection rate can reach about 90%, which is close to that of biopsy. Exfoliated cytology combined with serological examination can be used as a diagnostic indicator for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

No matter what type of cancer it is, if it is in the early stages, the cure rate is relatively high, so early detection and early treatment are very important.
