This is the earliest classification system in China. Liu Meng's "Chrysanthemum Catalogue" in the Song Dynasty divided the 36 varieties into 17 yellow varieties, 15 white varieties and 4 miscellaneous varieties according to their colors.

Height classification

Chrysanthemum plants are divided into three categories according to their height: tall (over 1m), medium (0.5-1m), and short (0.2-0.5m).

Type classification

The varieties are classified according to their evolutionary order, cultivation and application. The specific classification is as follows:
