How to read the thermometer

How to read the thermometer

There are two types of thermometers, one is a medical thermometer, which is used to measure human body temperature, and the other is for indoor use, which is used to test the indoor temperature. There will be differences in the readings of these two types of thermometers. Therefore, if you don’t know how to read the thermometer, it is impossible to see the correct number. Especially for a clinical thermometer, reading the wrong number may visually affect the treatment of the disease.

The thermometer is relatively simple to use. You just need to place it under the user's armpit, and you can see the user's temperature after 3-5 minutes. However, as for the indoor thermometer, because its temperature rises and falls very quickly, there are certain methods when using it.

When using a thermometer to measure the temperature of a liquid, the correct method is as follows:

1. Hold the upper end of the thermometer with your hand to prevent the temperature of your hand from affecting the expansion and contraction of the liquid in the thermometer. Make sure the glass bulb of the thermometer is completely immersed in the liquid being measured, and be careful not to touch the bottom or walls of the container. If the glass bulb of the thermometer touches the bottom or wall of the container, the temperature measured is not the water temperature. This will give an inaccurate reading.

2. After the thermometer glass bulb is immersed in the liquid to be measured, wait for a while and wait for the thermometer reading to stabilize before reading. If you do not wait for the liquid column in the thermometer to stop rising and falling before reading the value, what you read will not be the true temperature of the water.

3. When reading the temperature, the glass bulb of the thermometer should remain in the liquid. If it is lifted out of the water, the temperature read will not be the actual temperature of the water. The line of sight should be level with the upper surface of the liquid column in the thermometer. Otherwise the reading will be too high or too low.

Be careful not to shake it before measuring the temperature.

When temporarily measuring the indoor and outdoor temperatures, hold the upper end of the thermometer with your hand, and wait until the liquid column in the thermometer stops rising and falling before reading the value; when reading the value, your line of sight should also be level with the top of the liquid column in the thermometer; if measuring the outdoor temperature for a long time, hang the thermometer in a shaded and ventilated place.

To sum up, I believe you should know how to read a thermometer. Different thermometers have different views. I would like to remind you that when using a thermometer to measure human body temperature, you must pay attention to the correct use method, otherwise it will easily lead to misdiagnosis. If it is a misdiagnosis, it will seriously affect the treatment of the disease and cause harm to the human body.
