Will there be abnormal liver function in the early stage of liver cancer?

Liver cancer may not directly cause abnormal liver function in its early stages, but close monitoring of liver function is an important means of detecting potential health problems.

Liver function reflects the health of the liver through a series of laboratory tests, such as transaminase, bilirubin and albumin. If liver cancer does not obviously invade liver tissue in the early stages, there may be no abnormal indicators. However, if there is a chronic liver disease (such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C or alcoholic liver disease), liver function may have been damaged, and abnormalities may be more easily exposed.

Symptoms of early liver cancer are often not obvious, and may only manifest as fatigue, slight loss of appetite, dull pain in the right upper abdomen, etc. These conditions are easily confused with other common diseases. However, if the cancer progresses further and affects more liver functions, it may manifest as more serious problems such as increased transaminase, increased bilirubin, or even ascites, which are usually accompanied by obvious signs such as weight loss and skin jaundice.

Pay attention to developing the habit of regular physical examinations, especially for high-risk groups such as hepatitis B carriers and patients with liver cirrhosis. Liver function and alpha-fetoprotein levels should be monitored every 3 to 6 months, combined with liver imaging examinations (such as ultrasound or CT). If abnormal indicators are found or you feel unwell, you should consult a specialist as soon as possible for in-depth examination and treatment.
