Toenails turn yellow and thick

We should also pay attention to the condition of toenails. Some people's toenails will turn yellow and thick, which is likely due to onychomycosis. Onychomycosis is a very common skin disease. Don't worry, now if you have onychomycosis, it can be cured in most cases. Some commonly used methods include using a small sharp knife to remove brittle diseased nails. Let's take a closer look below.

The phenomenon of yellowing and thickening of toenails is very common. Generally, this phenomenon occurs due to onychomycosis. Everyone should be able to make a self-diagnosis in time. There are many other causes that can cause yellowing and thickening of toenails, some of which are caused by nail fungal infection.

Self-diagnosis of fungal nail infection

The nails become thickened and raised, and the nail plate is no longer transparent but appears yellow, green, white, black, etc., covering up the natural pink color of the nail bed.

This is a typical sign of a fungal nail infection. In the transition season between spring and summer, toes or hands that are hot and humid and sweaty are prone to fungal infections. The fungi invade the gap between the nail plate and the nail bed and multiply in large numbers, which will obviously affect the appearance of the nails, causing the nails to become noticeably thicker and the nail plate to no longer be transparent. Different fungi will cause different color changes, covering up the color of the nail bed. Therefore, keeping the skin clean and dry is the most important thing. Be sure to wipe your hands or feet clean after washing them. The treatment method is to apply 35% glacial acetic acid solution after removing the diseased nails. Because nails grow slowly, the treatment of onychomycosis requires persistence, and at least three doses of medication are required to be effective.

Commonly known as "onychomycosis". The disease usually starts with 1-2 nails (toenails), but in severe cases all nails (toenails) may be affected. The diseased deck loses its luster, and over time the deck becomes thicker and deformed, becoming grayish white or dirty yellow. The nail plate becomes brittle and breaks off, sometimes separating from the nail bed. In the past, diseased nails had to be removed, with methods such as surgical removal; after the diseased nail was removed, iodine was used to remove the fungus until a new nail grew out. Now, with the advent of a variety of new drugs, oral medications for the treatment of onychomycosis have also achieved good results.

Onychomycosis is a tinea-like disease characterized by thickening of the nails and their dark gray or yellow-white spots and loss of luster, as well as an uneven surface. It is loose and fragmented, and keratin and debris are often deposited under the nail. Sometimes, the nail plate can separate from the nail bed. Treatment: pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene, eat a high-protein diet, eat more cereals, beans, etc., and take appropriate vitamin A supplements

We should pay attention to the phenomenon of yellowing and thickening of toenails. Generally, onychomycosis will have such symptoms. We should do a good job in preventing onychomycosis in daily life. We should pay attention to daily hygiene and cleanliness, eat more high-protein foods such as beans and cereals, and supplement more vitamin A. Don't worry too much, generally onychomycosis can be cured.
