Cold, stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing

No matter what season it is, some people will suffer from colds and stuffy noses. Sometimes, if the illness is serious, the nose will be stuffy at night, and there will be sneezing and runny noses during the day. Don’t even mention how uncomfortable the person feels. However, sometimes the symptoms of a cold are very similar to those of allergic rhinitis. Think about whether you experience nasal congestion and runny nose at a certain time of year. Some people may be allergic to pollen or to certain things.

Many symptoms of colds are similar to those of allergic rhinitis. Therefore, many people mistakenly believe that allergic rhinitis is a cold, and they take a lot of medicine but see no signs of improvement. In order to help everyone distinguish between these two diseases, you can make a simple distinction from the following aspects.

1. Sneezing: People with a cold will sneeze, but the frequency is not often; one of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis is continuous sneezing, and some people may even sneeze dozens of times a day.

2. Clear runny nose: Judging from the symptoms associated with a cold, clear runny nose usually occurs in the early stages of a cold, and the amount is not large; allergic rhinitis is just the opposite, with a large amount of runny nose accompanied by sneezing.

3. Nasal congestion: Both allergic rhinitis and colds can cause nasal congestion symptoms. Generally, if the nasal congestion lasts for more than 7 days, it is likely allergic rhinitis rather than a cold.

4. Itchy nose: The main symptom of a cold is prolonged nasal congestion; when you suffer from allergic rhinitis, your nasal cavity will be very itchy, and you can't help but rub your nose with your hands. Patients with severe nasal itching may also experience itching in the eyes, ears, throat and other parts of the body, and decreased sense of smell.

5. Systemic symptoms: Colds may be accompanied by some systemic symptoms, such as fever, general weakness, muscle aches, etc. Since allergic rhinitis is an allergic reaction of the human nasal mucosa to certain substances, the possibility of systemic symptoms occurring during an attack is relatively small.

These can help you easily distinguish between colds and allergic rhinitis. I hope you can gain something after reading this. Diseases always cause a series of uncomfortable symptoms in our body, and no one wants to suffer from this or that disease. Therefore, we should take good care of ourselves in our lives and develop a good living schedule.
