What is a tampon

At the prime of her youth, the girl still has an innocent smile on her face. Something that confuses, scares and surprises her is about to happen as expected. When you had your first menstruation, you were only fourteen or fifteen years old and perhaps didn’t understand what it was. You thought you were bleeding and ran to your mother in tears. From that moment on, every girl had a secret in her heart: she can get pregnant and give birth to the next generation, but she also has to know how to protect herself.

This tampon is designed for menstruation, but Chinese women generally do not use it to absorb menstrual blood. Most Chinese women use sanitary napkins, while European and American women are more accustomed to using tampons. What does this tampon look like? How to use it? Let's find out below.

A tampon, also known as a sanitary plug or simply a tampon, is a cotton cylinder that can be inserted into the vagina to absorb menstrual blood when a woman has her period. A typical tampon user may use more than 10,000 tampons in their lifetime.

The catheter tampon was invented by Dr. Earle Haas in Denver, USA in 1929, patented in 1931, and launched in the United States in 1936. Another theory is that tampons are a female product designed by a female gynecologist in West Germany in 1950. Since the use of tampons does not affect clothing and exercise, they are favored by many people and are more commonly used by European and American women. Tampons are rarely used among women in Asian countries because Asians traditionally do not like suppositories.

The material of tampons is mainly made of cotton, synthetic fibers or a mixture of these two materials. They have sizes ranging from 1 cm to 1.9 cm in diameter, with a cotton thread (drawstring) attached to the end. The degree of arc at the tip of tampons varies from brand to brand, allowing users to choose according to their own usage habits. The body of a tampon often has straight or diagonal indentations that increase the tampon's ability to conduct fluid and allow it to fit against the vaginal wall as it expands to absorb menstrual blood.

Tampons are used for menstruation, but their structure is different from the sanitary napkins we are familiar with, and their usage is also different. However, tampons also have their own characteristics and are favored by many female friends. After understanding tampons, you can choose the one that suits you, so that you can get through those uncomfortable days more happily.
