How to treat severe hemangioma?

With the development of the times, more and more people are suffering from hemangiomas, and many people have it. Hemangioma is a vascular disease. About 80% of patients have congenital hemangiomas. Hemangiomas growing on the face can even affect the appearance. Many babies have hemangiomas when they are born. As they age, they will grow rapidly and continue to increase in size, destroying some surrounding tissues. So, how to treat severe hemangiomas?

Treatment of hemangiomas should take into account factors such as the type of hemangioma, its location, and the patient's age. Current treatments include surgical resection, radiotherapy, cryotherapy, laser therapy, sclerotherapy injection, etc., and comprehensive therapy is generally used. For tumors smaller than 1 cm, temporary observation may be considered. In a few cases, the tumors may disappear on their own. However, if the tumors grow rapidly, surgical removal should be performed promptly. The effectiveness of radiotherapy is still uncertain and it may cause cancer, so it is rarely used nowadays. It can also be combined with traditional Chinese medicine treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine, such as ginsenoside Rh2 (life-protecting factor) with a single content of more than 16%, can enhance the body's immunity and reduce the side effects of radiotherapy.

How to treat hemangioma

1. Surgical treatment: complete resection is possible for localized cases, and partial resection is possible for extensive cases.

2. Microwave diathermy therapy is mainly used for cavernous type.

3. Radiotherapy is used for capillary hemangiomas and superficial cavernous hemangiomas in infants and young children.

4. Sclerotherapy, used for cavernous hemangioma.

5. Cryotherapy is used for myrica-form and cavernous hemangiomas.

6. Hormone therapy, used for infantile hemangioma.

7. Intravascular embolization, used for racemose and giant cavernous hemangiomas.

8. External treatment and compression method: Place cotton pads or rubber sponges directly on the outside of the affected area for a long time.

9. Injection method: inject Xiaozhiling injection and 1% procaine into the tumor in a 1:1 ratio. The dosage depends on the size of the tumor. Generally, 4-5 ml is injected within a range of 3 cm.

Hemangioma is a benign disease, but long-term growth can cause facial deformities in the patient and cause physical and mental harm to the patient. Therefore, once a baby is found to have a hemangioma after birth, treatment should be started as soon as possible. Treatment as soon as possible can better eliminate the lesions and the operation will be easier to perform. Otherwise, the hemangioma will grow larger, increasing the risk of surgery and even being life-threatening.
