Kidney-tonifying function: Li Xiaomei, Wang Haiyan, Li Liying, Mao Yawen, Han Kehan, Geng Lin, Han Jin, Li Meihua, Zhang Xiaoying, and Yu Xiajun discussed the aging of renal mitochondria in aged rats and its drug protection: By observing the changes in the ultrastructure of mitochondria in aged rats' renal cells, the amount of ATP synthesis, and the level of lipid peroxidation product malondialdehyde after the application of anti-aging drugs such as wolfberry polysaccharides and vitamin EC mixture, it was found that the structural and functional changes of aged rats' renal mitochondria were accompanied by an increase in the free radical metabolite malondialdehyde. The ATP synthesis of mitochondria in aged rats' renal cells was 120.38nM/mgPrmin±16.72nM/mgPrmin, which was 18.75nM/mgPrmin lower than that of the young group; and the malondialdehyde in renal tissue was 30.40μg/100mg±6.66μg/100mg wet weight, which was 2.4 times that of the young group. Long-term use of vitamin EC mixture or wolfberry polysaccharides can fight free radicals to a certain extent, reduce the level of malondialdehyde in renal tissue, prevent mitochondrial aging, and improve its function.
