Will dentures fall off

Will dentures fall off

After some elderly people have lost a lot of teeth, they have always wanted to get dentures. However, some elderly people are worried about whether their dentures will fall off after being inserted. In fact, today's denture technology is very advanced, and the reason why dentures will not fall off is because they have adsorption force with the saliva in the mouth. In fact, when a full mouth of teeth is inserted, they usually will not fall off because of the base attachment. So, will dentures really not fall off?

There are many kinds of dentures. The best dentures are dental implants, which are implanted in the mouth and will not fall out. Generally, successful dental implants can be used for 40 years or even longer.

So what types of dentures are there?

1. Removable dentures: Dentures that patients can put on and take off by themselves. They are suitable for situations where most teeth are missing and there are few remaining teeth. The advantage is that patients can take it off for cleaning, which puts less burden on the remaining teeth. However, it also has many inconveniences such as low chewing efficiency and the need for patients to take it off for cleaning after meals. Recommended reading: Can loose teeth be repaired?

2. Fixed dentures (porcelain teeth): Use the healthy teeth on both sides of the missing teeth as support to fix the dentures in the mouth. It is suitable for situations where a small number of teeth are missing, intermittent teeth are missing, and the remaining teeth are in good health. The advantages are that fixed dentures have high chewing efficiency, are comfortable for patients to wear, have little foreign body sensation, and do not need to be removed. The disadvantage is that during the restoration, some tooth tissue of the healthy teeth on both sides of the missing tooth must be removed before a full crown restoration can be performed.

3. Fixed dentures (Wu Shulan's patented dentures): Use the healthy teeth on both sides of the missing teeth as support to fix the dentures in the mouth. It is suitable for situations where a small number of teeth are missing, intermittently missing teeth, and the remaining teeth are in good health. Advantages: No teeth grinding, no pain, no metal, no foreign body sensation, and all treatments can be completed in one day. Disadvantages: It has high requirements for the remaining teeth, and this denture method is only suitable for front teeth.

4. Dental implants: This is a newer technology that has developed rapidly in recent years. The method is to implant the implant in the alveolar bone. After the implant and the alveolar bone form bone fusion, the tooth is placed on the implant. However, dental implants require the patient to be in good overall health and the alveolar bone to have a certain height and width. Dental implants are comfortable and beautiful to use, and do not damage adjacent teeth, but they are expensive.

In fact, full dentures are not as easy to fall off as everyone says. Some dentures will be affected by adsorption and the retention effect of atmospheric pressure when they are in the mouth. In fact, full dentures are stable in the mouth and are not easy to fall off. Moreover, there are so many people wearing dentures now, and no cases of dentures falling off. Nowadays, denture repairs are designed according to the patient's dental condition.
