How to identify artificial wood ear?

Some of the fungus sold on the market now may be artificial, so if we want to better exert its efficacy, we need to pay attention to distinguishing the authenticity of the fungus. We can distinguish it by looking at the color, touching the taste, or tasting the texture.

1. Look at the color

The color of wood ear is divided into the dorsal side and the ventral side, and the two colors are different. Remember, if you see that the colors of both sides are the same, it is fake. If the belly is gray-black and the back is black, then it is real.

2. Touch it

If you touch good wood ear mushrooms with your hands, they will feel light and not hard, as if there is nothing in your hands. However, the fake wood ears feel heavy and fragile in the hand.

3. Try it

You can pinch a little bit of good fungus and put it in your mouth to taste it and see if it has any taste. In fact, real fungus has no taste when you put it in your mouth. If it tastes salty, sweet, or bitter, it is false.

4. Take a dip

Soak the fungus in water and check whether the color has changed. If the color has not changed or faded, it is real fungus. If the water turns black and the fungus turns lighter, it is artificially soaked in sea jelly.

5. Expansion rate

The expansion rate of good wood ear is relatively high. Generally speaking, it can expand, taking quality as an example, to more than ten times its original size. The fake ones are only five times more than the original mass, so from this perspective, if they are big enough, they are real.
