What else can I do if I get stung by a bee besides applying honey?

The day before yesterday, my friend and I went to the park to take pictures and we were accidentally stung by a bee. We were so focused on taking pictures that we didn’t notice the bee at all. By the time we realized it, we had already been stung. An old lady saw it and came over, saying that if you are stung by a bee, you can apply some honey. She used to raise bees and sometimes got stung by them. This is how she treated the wound. We followed the old lady’s instructions. The wound didn’t have any symptoms. I was curious, so I searched the Internet for some information about bee stings. Now I will talk about other ways to treat the wound.

If you are stung by a bee, take some alkali powder (edible alkali will do) and wet it and apply it to the sting. This method is simple but very effective.

If it is a wasp, you can disinfect the sting area with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol.

Then apply some toothpaste, change it once at noon and once before going to bed at night

A bee sting is an act of suicide. A bee that stings someone is certain to die because its stinger and the venom-secreting gland near the tail will remain in your body. Even if the bee dies, the gland will continue to secrete venom and enter your body through the stinger. You can first find the stinger, pull it out, and then clean the surface with an alkaline liquid (such as pure alkali, baking soda, ammonia or soapy water).

Bees are divided into honey bees, wasps, hornets and ground bees. The female bee has a poison gland and a stinger at the tail. The honey needle is a transformed ovipositor that can inject venom into the human body. The female bee's stinger still has a reverse hook, and after it pierces the human body, part of it remains in the wound. The sting of a wasp does not remain in the wound, but the sting of a wasp is more serious than that of a bee. The venom glands and stingers of drone bees do not cause any harm.

Bee venom mainly contains formic acid, neurotoxins and histamine. After being stung, people mainly experience local severe pain, burning, redness, swelling or blister formation. After being stung by a swarm of bees or a wasp with more venom, the symptoms are more severe and may include dizziness, headache, chills, fever, irritability, convulsions and fainting. A few may experience laryngeal edema, shortness of breath, vomiting, abdominal pain, increased heart rate, decreased blood pressure, shock and coma. After being stung by a bee, you can take the following first aid measures:

1. Immediately find the bee sting at the stung site and remove it, then use cupping to suck out the venom and reduce the absorption of toxins.

2. Wash the area with 3% ammonia solution, 5% sodium bicarbonate solution or soapy water. For wasp stings, there is no need to apply medicine but just apply acetic acid or vinegar locally.

3. You can apply Nantong snake medicine around the wound or choose one of the following herbs to mash and apply externally, such as Viola yedoensis, Lobelia, Polygonum multiflorum, Taraxacum officinale, etc.

Severely ill patients with mental disorders, breathing difficulties or hematuria should be sent to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

Above I introduced how to deal with bee stings, including applying honey. Bees are more common in the summer, so you need to be more careful when you go outdoors. Try to avoid wearing clothes that attract bees. But you can rest assured that bees will not sting you easily, either when you are frightened or when you are attacked. So you must be careful when traveling, as good health is very important.
