There are red spots on the palms of my hands which are very itchy

The phenomenon of red spots on the palms is quite common in life. This symptom can cause a lot of discomfort to the body. For example, the palms will feel unexplained itching, etc. Some red spots may even develop into herpes. Therefore, we must pay attention to the red spots on the palms and find the cause in time. Let’s take a look at what’s going on when the red spots on the palms feel itchy? People who have experienced this phenomenon can learn about it.

Red spots on the palms are dyshidrotic eczema, an acute blister-type hand eczema that can occasionally occur on the soles of the feet. It is more likely to occur after puberty and in young and middle-aged people. The typical symptoms are an itchy sensation on the sides of the fingers, palms or soles, followed by blisters in the deeper layers of the skin. The blisters may be more or less and may sometimes merge into a large area. The itching gradually intensifies and may even cause a tingling sensation. After the blisters dry up, peeling will occur and the itching will gradually subside. The whole process will last about two to three weeks. But because symptoms tend to recur, they often continue over a long period of time.

Although the name of dyshidrotic eczema contains the word "sweat" and it often occurs in patients with hyperhidrosis of the hands in clinical practice, pathological examinations show that these blisters do not have much to do with sweat glands.

It is currently believed that this is a manifestation of allergic local dermatitis. The cause is still unknown. It is related to chronic emotional stress and most often recurs in spring and summer. In addition to primary dyshidrosis, subacute or chronic dyshidrosis may be related to different factors, the most common of which is athlete's foot patients. In severe fungal infections, fungal antigen proteins can cause autoallergic reactions. This allergic reaction manifests itself as dyshidrosis. Summer happens to be the season when athlete's foot is most common, so patients with dyshidrotic eczema on their hands must pay attention to whether they also have athlete's foot.

Another common cause is long-term contact dermatitis.

It is usually caused by exposure to certain stimuli in the workplace. For example, cement workers or hairdressers. Most of these patients were originally patients with ichthyosis. Due to continuous contact with allergens, chronic and recurrent small blisters developed on the affected areas of the original ichthyosis. In severe cases, exudate even flowed out.
