Symptoms of diabetic foot, here are four points to know

The symptoms of diabetic foot are metabolic disorders and elevated blood sugar, which lead to polyuria and polydipsia, impaired glucose absorption in peripheral tissues, increased fat decomposition, negative balance of protein metabolism, fatigue, weight loss and other symptoms.

1. Polyuria

It is due to high blood sugar, exceeding the renal glucose threshold (8.89 ~ 10.0mmol / L). The glucose filtered through the glomerulus cannot be completely reabsorbed by the renal tubules, forming an osmotic diuresis. The higher the blood sugar, the more urinary sugar is excreted and the more urine is produced. The 24-hour urine volume can reach 5000 ~ 10000ml. However, in the elderly and those with kidney disease, the renal glucose threshold is increased and urinary sugar excretion is impaired. When the blood sugar is slightly to moderately elevated, polyuria may not be obvious.

2. Drink more

This is mainly because high blood sugar significantly increases plasma osmotic pressure, coupled with polyuria, excessive water loss, intracellular dehydration, aggravating hyperglycemia, and further significantly increasing plasma osmotic pressure, stimulating the thirst center, leading to thirst and polydipsia, which further aggravates polyuria.

3. Fatigue

It is also common among diabetic patients. Since glucose cannot be completely oxidized, the human body cannot fully utilize glucose and release energy effectively. At the same time, tissues lose water, electrolyte imbalance and negative nitrogen balance occur, resulting in general fatigue and mental depression.

4. Decreased vision

Many diabetic patients complain of decreased or blurred vision when they seek medical treatment in the early stages. This is mainly due to high blood sugar causing changes in the osmotic pressure of the lens, which in turn causes changes in the refractive power of the lens. In the early stages, these changes are generally functional. Once blood sugar is well controlled, vision can return to normal relatively quickly.
