What are the symptoms of bacillary dysentery

Bacillary dysentery is a disease that many people have not heard of. In fact, bacillary dysentery is an intestinal infectious disease with obvious symptoms. The patient will experience symptoms such as poisoning and abdominal pain. Bacillary dysentery is very harmful to health, so everyone should know more about its needle shape.

Bacillary dysentery (abbreviated as bacillary dysentery) is caused by Shigella dysenteriae. Shigella dysenteriae is divided into four groups: Group A (Shigella dysenteriae), Group B (Shigella flexneri), Group C (Shigella boydii), and Group D (Shigella sonnei). All four bacterial groups can produce endotoxins, and group A can also produce exotoxins. All four Shigella species can cause both common and toxic dysentery. The main pathogen of dysentery in my country is Shigella flexneri, while Shigella sonnei and Shigella boydii are on the rise.

Bacillary dysentery is transmitted through the fecal-oral route, which means that dysentery can be contracted by eating food contaminated by the feces of dysentery patients and carriers. The stool of patients with dysentery contains a large number of Shigella dysenteriae, so it is the main source of infection of dysentery. Healthy carriers appear healthy, but their stools carry Shigella dysenteriae, so the role of carriers in spreading dysentery cannot be ignored and they are a more dangerous source of infection. The feces of patients and carriers can contaminate food, fruits, water sources, toys and the surrounding environment in a variety of ways. Flies play an important role in the spread of Shigella dysenteriae.

The weather is hot in summer and autumn, flies breed quickly and in high density, and like to stay in unclean places. There are many hairs on the flies' feet, and a large number of Shigella dysenteriae can adhere to the hairs. Therefore, flies are the voluntary carriers of Shigella dysenteriae and an important medium of transmission. Therefore, the incidence of dysentery increases significantly in summer and autumn. If a child eats contaminated food or fruit, plays with contaminated toys without washing hands properly before meals, or has the habit of sucking his fingers, he is very likely to get dysentery. People are generally susceptible to dysentery. Children aged 1 to 3 years old are more likely to suffer from common dysentery, especially malnourished children and weak and sickly children. Children who have had dysentery have a certain degree of immunity, but it does not last long, and there is no cross-immunity between different bacterial groups, so they can get dysentery many times in a year.

The incubation period of dysentery varies in length, ranging from a few hours to 8 days, with most being 2 to 3 days. Due to different clinical manifestations and disease courses, medical scientists divide dysentery into common dysentery, toxic dysentery and chronic dysentery.
