Diagnostic basis of prostate sarcoma

Diagnostic basis of prostate sarcoma

Compared with prostate cancer, prostate sarcoma is much more malignant. It can affect urination in the early stage, manifested as frequent urination, painful urination and difficulty urinating. In severe cases, it compresses the rectum and causes difficulty in defecation. In the late stage, pain, obvious weight loss, anemia and cachexia may occur, and it is easy to metastasize to the lungs, liver and bones.

The following test results can help to diagnose prostate sarcoma:

1. Laboratory examination: Urinalysis may show microscopic hematuria. When obstruction is complicated by infection, leukocytosis may occur in the urine. In the late stage, anemia and increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate may occur.

2. B-ultrasound examination: B-ultrasound examination shows that the prostate is enlarged and protrudes into the bladder, the capsule echo is irregular or defective, and there is a substantial low-echo area inside.

3. CT examination: CT examination can show isolated low-density areas caused by tumor necrosis and signs of involvement of the bladder, rectum and pelvic muscles.

4. Cystoscopy: The bladder capacity is reduced due to the inward pressure of the mass, and the triangular area of the bladder neck presses the bladder from the outside to the inside, forming an external pressure mass.

5. Cystourethrography: Cystourethrography shows that the bladder and urethra are compressed, deformed and displaced, and there is a huge filling defect shadow at the bladder neck that protrudes into the bladder.

6. X-ray examination: When the tumor has metastasized, X-ray pelvic film examination will show bone damage, which is osteolytic destruction.

7. Radionuclide examination: When the tumor has bone metastasis, radionuclide bone scanning may reveal bone damage.
