What is antenatal depression?

Prenatal depression can be said to be a psychological problem that affects many pregnant women. It is mainly caused by excessive worry during pregnancy or lack of knowledge about childbirth. Therefore, you must pay attention to adjusting your mentality during pregnancy.

1. Physical discomfort during pregnancy

After women enter pregnancy, they will experience various discomforts, such as edema, itchy skin, increased secretions from the lower body, tight abdominal skin, etc., which make people more irritable, and over time, expectant mothers will become uneasy.

2. Excessive worry about deformity

Although science and technology are developing rapidly nowadays, there are still some fetal health problems that are difficult to detect. Some mothers are too worried and concerned about giving birth to deformed babies in the future, which makes them extremely anxious.

3. Often stay at home

After becoming pregnant, some women choose to stay at home throughout the pregnancy to ensure the safety of themselves and their babies, and only go out for prenatal checkups or when necessary. Over time, women's attention will easily shift to negative aspects and their anxiety will increase because they always stay in a fixed area and range.

4. Lack of knowledge about childbirth

This syndrome often occurs in first-time mothers. These people lack the necessary knowledge about childbirth. They have a one-sided understanding of the pain of childbirth through television, newspapers, and the Internet. Considering that they will also experience it in the future, they can't help but become afraid and worried.

5. Over-emphasizing the sex of the fetus

This type of women find it difficult to adjust their attitude and cannot correctly view whether to have a boy or a girl. They are very concerned about the gender of the fetus and always try to find out the gender of the baby in advance through various methods, worrying that the baby will not match the ideal gender.

6. Suffering from illness during pregnancy

During pregnancy, some women may suffer from diseases such as gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, and gestational heart disease. These diseases will not only pose a threat to the expectant mothers themselves, but will also affect the fetus, which is worrying.
