Introduction to the use of ventilator

The ventilator is a tool to assist sleep. It can better help us improve our respiratory function and increase lung ventilation. However, we must also pay attention to the correct method of using the ventilator. Many people will experience discomfort when using the ventilator for the first time, which is normal.

1. First use

You may feel uncomfortable when you first use a ventilator, but this is normal. You can take a few deep breaths. After a period of self-adjustment, the patient will gradually adapt to this new feeling.

Getting up: If you need to get up during the night, remove your mask and turn off your machine. When you continue to sleep, put the mask back on and turn on the CPAP machine.

2. Oral leakage:

If you use a nasal mask, try to keep your mouth closed during treatment. Air leakage from the mouth will reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. If the mouth leak problem cannot be solved, an oronasal mask or a chin strap can be used.

3. Wearing a mask

A ventilator works best when the mask fits well and is comfortable. Air leaks can affect the efficacy of the treatment, so it is very important to eliminate them. Before putting on the mask, please wash your face and remove excess facial oil, which will help you wear the mask better and extend the life of the mask cushion.

4. Drying problem

During use, dryness of the nose, mouth and throat may occur, which is more obvious in winter. Often, adding a humidifier can eliminate the discomfort.

5. Nasal irritation

During the first few weeks of treatment, you may experience sneezing, runny nose, or nasal congestion. Usually, adding a humidifier can solve the above problems.
