Is it normal not to have acne during puberty?

It is normal not to get acne during adolescence. This is related to each person's physical constitution. It is not certain that symptoms of acne will appear during adolescence. It is easier to get acne during adolescence, mainly because of the endocrine disorders caused by the increased secretion of adolescent hormones, which leads to acne. In addition, if the skin is relatively healthy and not blocked, acne will not occur.

1. The occurrence of acne is closely related to factors such as excessive sebum secretion, blockage of the sebaceous gland ducts of the hair follicles, bacterial infection and inflammatory response. After entering puberty, the level of androgens, especially testosterone, in the human body increases rapidly, promoting the development of sebaceous glands and producing a large amount of sebum. At the same time, abnormal keratinization of the sebaceous gland ducts of the hair follicles causes blockage of the ducts, hindering the excretion of sebum and forming keratin plugs, also known as micro-acne. Various microorganisms, especially Propionibacterium acnes, multiply in large numbers in the hair follicles. The lipase produced by Propionibacterium acnes breaks down sebum to produce free fatty acids, while also attracting inflammatory cells and mediators, ultimately inducing and aggravating the inflammatory response.

2. If your skin is healthy and your pores are not clogged, you generally won’t get acne.

3. Another reason is genetic factors. If parents had acne when they were young, their children are more likely to have acne.

It is recommended to guide children to do the following daily care:

1. Gentle Cleansing

The so-called gentle cleansing does not mean that you cannot use facial cleanser, but it is recommended to use medical skin care products, because these skin care products have relatively fewer ingredients, which can achieve effective cleansing while reducing irritation to the skin.

In addition, for people with a lot of blackheads and acne, it is recommended to use skin care products containing fruit acid ingredients, which can effectively clean pores and remove accumulated keratin cells. At the same time, it can also stimulate skin regeneration and repair, thereby making the skin firm, delicate and smooth. Skin care products containing glucocorticoids should be used as little as possible.

2. Eat a healthy diet

The occurrence of acne is also related to a preference for spicy and irritating foods in the diet, so you should pay attention to avoid consuming too much greasy, spicy or high-calorie food, and eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.

3. Keep a regular schedule

Develop good habits of regular work and rest, change the bad habit of staying up late, ensure adequate sleep, and maintain a good mood. In addition, you must insist on exercising and sweating to excrete waste from the body in time, but after sweating, you must pay attention to clean the skin in time to keep the pores unobstructed.

4. Avoid scratching or squeezing pimples with your hands

Avoid scratching or squeezing acne to prevent the affected skin from becoming inflamed and suppurated, causing the abscesses to rupture and forming lingering acne marks.

As for treatment, when doctors prescribe medication for patients, they usually choose according to the cause and severity of the acne, mainly focusing on anti-keratinization, fat removal, and anti-inflammatory. The most popular drugs for treating acne are retinoic acid preparations. In addition to medication, physical therapy is also used clinically. Especially for stubborn acne pits and scars, physical therapy has relatively few side effects and is relatively safe. Current physical therapy methods include acne needle therapy, red and blue light therapy, fruit acid therapy, photodynamic therapy, laser therapy, hyaluronic acid injection, and acne pit filling with fat stem cells. But no matter which treatment method is used, it is best to go to a regular hospital to ensure safety.
