What causes sore throat and dry cough

What causes sore throat and dry cough

Sore throat and dry cough are often caused by irritation of the throat, such as exposure to dust, excessive smoking and drinking, and allergic symptoms, which may cause dry, itchy and painful throat. Therefore, we need to pay attention to symptomatic treatment.

1. Throat itching and cough

It is a symptom of chronic pharyngitis, a diffuse pharyngeal lesion caused by chronic and recurrent infection. Its main pathological feature is inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa. This disease mostly occurs in adults. Because of its long course, stubborn symptoms, and difficulty in being effectively treated with short-term treatment, it is not easy to cure.

2. Reflux esophagitis

The symptoms are caused by the erosion and irritation of the pharynx by the reflux of gastric juice. First, belching after overeating causes gastric acid reflux; second, when lying flat at night, the head is lowered, causing gastric acid substances retained in the proximal esophagus to flow into the pharynx. Causes throat itching and coughing. If in addition to coughing, there are also heartburn, belching, or a burning sensation behind the sternum, and the more severe these symptoms are, the more severe the throat symptoms are, then it is likely reflux pharyngitis.

3. Treatment of patients with chronic pharyngitis

For throat itching and cough caused by chronic pharyngitis, it is necessary to choose the right medicine to actively treat pharyngitis, and eat more heat-clearing and detoxifying foods to treat this disease.

4. Treatment of patients with reflux esophagitis

First, you should avoid overeating or eating before going to bed, and do not take drugs that affect esophageal motility function; second, you should raise the pillow appropriately when sleeping to raise your head, which will help reduce the occurrence of reflux pharyngitis; third, if it is confirmed that there is "acidity" in the throat, in addition to local application of anti-inflammatory drugs and throat lozenges, acid-suppressing drugs and gastrokinetic drugs should be used in combination.
