What should I do if my anus is cracked and bleeding

Anal fissure cracking and bleeding is a common anal fissure problem, especially in infants and young children. Therefore, as parents, you should let your children develop good bowel habits and pay attention to helping them maintain local cleanliness. If the condition is serious, you can use 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution for a sitz bath or wash the buttocks.

1. Anal fissure is a common disease in infancy, and its cause is mainly related to diet. If the baby is fed with milk but complementary food is not added in time, the stool will become dry and hard; if the baby is fed with too much force during defecation, the hard stool will force its way through the anal canal, causing deep lacerations in the skin of the anal canal. It can also be damaged by friction from rough toilet paper or by forceful ejection of stool from diarrhea. If an infant develops anal fissure, it can be cured quickly as long as parents take timely measures.

2. Breastfeeding should be promoted: Breast milk is the best nutrition for babies. Breast milk mainly contains whey protein, which is easy to digest and absorb. Therefore, babies who are breastfed have softer stools.

3. Keep the local area clean and hygienic: If a child has anal fissure, parents should gently wipe it clean with soft toilet paper after each bowel movement, and then take a sitz bath in a 1:5000 potassium permanganate (PP powder) warm water solution for 10-20 minutes. This can play a role in local disinfection and accelerate the healing of the fissure.

4. Let your child develop good bowel habits: To keep the bowels open, parents should cultivate their children's good habit of defecating on time every day, and not be picky about food. Consuming a certain amount of fresh vegetables containing fiber every day can help keep bowel movements smooth. Once constipation occurs, the baby can be frequently fed with laxative foods such as yogurt, soy milk, honey, bananas, and fruits.

5. Pay attention to observation after defecation: If the baby has blood dripping from the stool or bleeding, cries in pain, or has anal fissure, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible and receive treatment under the guidance of a doctor or nurse.
