What is snoring and what causes it

I believe that snoring is a phenomenon that many of my friends experience, but have you ever thought about what snoring is related to? The occurrence of snoring may be related to physical illness, such as central nervous system diseases, obstructive diseases, etc., which may cause snoring.

In medical theory, snoring is caused by the following three reasons:

1. Caused by central nervous system diseases

2. Obstructive diseases

3. Mixed diseases

Generally speaking, adults are most likely to suffer from mixed symptoms, while children are most likely to suffer from obstructive problems.

Snoring and physical factors:

1. Enlarged tonsils, soft palate and tongue, long uvula, loose throat, suffixed tongue, etc.

2. Obesity is one of the most important causes of snoring. Because the airways of obese people are narrower than those of normal people, when they are awake during the day, the airways remain open when the throat muscles contract, thus preventing the airways from being blocked. However, when you sleep at night, your nerve excitability decreases, your muscles relax, and your pharyngeal tissue becomes blocked, causing the upper airway to collapse. When air flows through the narrow area, it creates vortices and causes vibrations, which lead to snoring sounds.

3. Physiological abnormalities in the nasopharynx and jaw of the respiratory tract can also cause snoring. For example, a deviated nasal septum and nasal polyps can cause nasal narrowing, resulting in airflow blockage and snoring.

4. There is a natural connection between snoring and cardiovascular disease. Habitual snorers often have varying degrees of apnea-induced hypoxemia, which leads to increased blood pressure.

5. The characteristics of snoring caused by "sleep apnea syndrome" are that the person breathes with his mouth wide open during sleep, and is repeatedly awakened due to breathing cessation. When waking up, he appears very tired, and sometimes has severe headaches.
