Can small liver cancer be cured for life?

Small liver cancer generally cannot be cured for life, but through active treatment, the patient's discomfort symptoms can be improved and the patient's survival period can be helped to be prolonged.

There is no unified standard for small liver cancer. Traditionally, liver cancer with a diameter of 5 cm or less or the sum of the diameters of two liver cancers is less than or equal to 5 cm is called small liver cancer. The susceptibility factors of small liver cancer are mainly chronic liver damage. Common chronic injuries include cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, etc. Long-term consumption of food contaminated with aflatoxin B1 may induce liver cancer. Some chemicals and drugs, such as nitrosamines, azo mustard, organochlorine pesticides, androgens, and some steroids, are also risk factors for inducing the disease. After the disease occurs, it will cause symptoms such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, ascites, etc. The overall prognosis of small liver cancer is relatively good. If it is discovered and treated early, there are no small metastases, and patients with good surgical treatment can achieve clinical cure, but postoperative recurrence is more common, and it can be combined with decompensated liver cirrhosis. Some patients may have small metastases in the early stage, and the surgical effect is not good. Small liver cancer is usually not cured for life.

Patients should eat a light diet, maintain a proper work and rest schedule, keep a good mood, and go for regular checkups. If they have any abnormal symptoms, they should seek medical attention actively.
