If there is a burning sensation in the urethra, then you should be alert to urinary tract infection. This phenomenon is most common in women. Common urinary tract infections include cystitis, pyelonephritis, and urethritis. Don't be too nervous. You can follow the doctor's advice for treatment and pay attention to your diet. 1. Symptoms of urinary tract infection 1. Cystitis: This is commonly referred to as a lower urinary tract infection. The main manifestation of cystitis in adult women is urinary tract irritation, i.e. frequent urination, urgency, pain, leukocytosis, occasional hematuria, even macroscopic hematuria, and discomfort in the bladder area. Generally there are no obvious systemic infection symptoms, but a few patients may have low back pain, low fever (generally not exceeding 38°C), and the white blood cell count is often not increased. About 30% of cystitis is self-limiting and can heal itself within 7 to 10 days. 2. Acute pyelonephritis: The manifestations include the following two groups of symptoms: ① Urinary system symptoms: including bladder irritation signs such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating, as well as low back pain and/or lower abdominal pain. ②Symptoms of systemic infection: such as chills, fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc., often accompanied by increased white blood cell count and increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate. There is generally no hypertension or azotemia. 3. Chronic pyelonephritis: The course of chronic pyelonephritis is very insidious. Clinical manifestations are divided into the following three categories: ① Urinary tract infection manifestations: Only a small number of patients may have intermittent symptomatic pyelonephritis, but the more common manifestations are intermittent asymptomatic bacteriuria, and (or) intermittent lower urinary tract infection symptoms such as urgency and frequency of urination, waist and abdominal discomfort and (or) intermittent low fever. ②Symptoms of chronic interstitial nephritis, such as hypertension, polyuria, increased nocturia, and easy dehydration. ③Related manifestations of chronic kidney disease. 2. Symptomatic care for urinary tract infection 1. Patients with high fever and obvious urinary tract irritation symptoms should rest in bed. Those with body temperature above 38.5℃ can use physical cooling or intramuscular injection of cooling drugs such as Bupleurum as prescribed by the doctor. Taking sodium bicarbonate as directed by your doctor can alkaline your urine to relieve symptoms of urinary tract irritation. 2. Provide sufficient calories, vitamins and easily digestible food, encourage patients to drink more water, and give intravenous infusion when necessary to ensure intake, so that patients can urinate more and achieve the purpose of flushing the urinary tract. 3. Before taking the medicine, do a midstream urine culture and drug sensitivity test to facilitate the rational use of antibiotics. It is best to collect overnight urine in the early morning, and the best way to obtain a urine sample is by bladder puncture. 4. Pay attention to drug toxicity, side effects and allergic reactions, and report any problems to your doctor promptly. 5. Provide good psychological care for patients. Patients often lack understanding of this disease. Some do not take it seriously and do not follow doctor's orders for treatment. Some are overly nervous and suffer from great mental stress. Nursing staff should be caring and considerate to patients, explain things to patients according to different situations, eliminate psychological factors that affect treatment, and enable them to actively cooperate with treatment. |
