What are the symptoms and treatment of bronchitis?

Bronchitis is a common and frequently occurring disease in the respiratory department. It is divided into acute and chronic degrees. It often occurs in young children and the elderly. The reason is that these two types of people have imperfect respiratory systems and poor immunity. They are most susceptible to the disease in cold and dry seasons. After suffering from the disease, the disease tends to recur. Symptoms commonly include coughing and sputum, and in severe cases, breathing difficulties may occur.

Symptoms of bronchitis

1. Cough

Bronchial mucosal congestion, edema or accumulation of secretions in the bronchial cavity can cause cough. The severity of the cough depends on the condition. Generally, the cough is more severe in the morning and lighter during the day. There are bouts of coughing or sputum discharge before going to bed at night. The cough persists for a long time and worsens in autumn and winter.

2. Phlegm

At the beginning, the cough is not severe, and the sputum is irritating and has little sputum. After a few days, the cough becomes more severe, and the sputum changes from mucus to mucopurulent. The sputum is white, foamy, sticky and difficult to cough up. When mucus secretions accumulate in the larger bronchi, there may be coarse dry rales that disappear after coughing; when watery secretions accumulate in the small bronchi, moist rales can be heard in the lungs.

3. Panting

Patients with asthmatic bronchitis have bronchospasm, which can cause wheezing, often accompanied by asthma-like attacks, causing difficulty breathing. There is no shortness of breath in the early stage, but it recurs for several years. When it is complicated by obstructive pulmonary emphysema, it may be accompanied by shortness of breath of varying degrees. Chronic bronchitis has a long course of disease, and long-term untreated disease can lead to damage to the lungs, spleen, and kidneys. Therefore, patients with severe illness are often accompanied by symptoms such as wheezing, inability to lie flat, and worsening symptoms when moving, as well as kidney failure to absorb air.

Western medicine treatment of tracheitis

The clinical treatment method for bronchitis mainly uses antiasthmatic, antispasmodic and antibiotic drugs to relieve cough and phlegm, relieve spasms and asthma, and control infection.

Treatment of bronchitis:

1. As the active ingredient of Mucosolvan, ambroxol has a strong ability to dissolve mucus, decompose sputum, and enhance the clearance of mucus in the respiratory tract by increasing the vibration of the respiratory mucosa. In addition, ambroxol also has respiratory protective effects such as anti-infection and anti-oxidation. It can also play an antispasmodic effect by relaxing the smooth muscles of the respiratory tract, thereby improving patients' poor sputum discharge, shortness of breath, and difficulty breathing.

2. Commonly used drugs for expectorant and antitussive treatment include BiKePing, etc. In addition, if accompanied by wheezing, antiasthmatic treatment should be carried out, and drugs such as aminophylline and Mechuanqing can be selected. Different hospitals have different choices of drugs.

Inhalation therapy includes humidification therapy and atomization inhalation therapy. It uses a nebulizer or ultrasonic nebulizer to control a certain temperature, add antibiotics, expectorants, and antiasthmatic drugs into the humidifying liquid, and disperse the liquid into extremely fine particles and spray it into the respiratory tract to increase the humidity of the inhaled gas, so as to moisten the airway mucosa, dilute sputum, maintain the normal movement and clearance function of the airway mucociliary system, and have anti-inflammatory, expectorant and antispasmodic effects. Commonly used humidifiers include distilled water, hypotonic saline, and normal saline.
