What causes high transaminase levels and what harm does it do to the body?

Many people would think that high transaminase levels indicate liver problems, but this is not necessarily the case because transaminase is very sensitive and its fluctuations are relatively large. It is mainly distributed in the myocardium, brain, kidneys, liver and other parts. Therefore, many people do not understand the dangers of high transaminase. Now I will take you to understand its dangers.

1. Hazards

Transaminase is mainly present in liver cells, including alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase. When liver cells become inflamed or necrotic, transaminase is released into the body, causing an increase in transaminase concentration. Therefore, high transaminases generally indicate liver damage. High transaminase levels are common in patients with liver disease, and the hazards of high transaminase levels vary among different patients with liver disease.

If the elevation of transaminase is caused by viral hepatitis (such as hepatitis B, hepatitis A, hepatitis C, etc.), high transaminase often indicates inflammatory activity in the liver and accompanied by liver damage, and antiviral treatment is needed as soon as possible. If high transaminase levels are not treated promptly, it may lead to continued liver damage and subsequent cirrhosis. In China, those most at risk from high transaminase levels are patients with viral hepatitis.

If the elevation of transaminase is caused by cirrhosis or liver cancer, it means that the patient's condition has worsened or become unstable. At the same time, cirrhosis and liver cancer are prone to cause complications, which may be life-threatening if not treated in time.

If alcoholic liver or fatty liver causes elevated transaminase levels and is not treated, it will lead to continued liver damage and eventually cirrhosis and liver cancer.

2. Reduction Methods

1. The drugs used to treat high alanine aminotransferase are mainly traditional Chinese medicine and extracts of its active ingredients. The above-mentioned various Chinese herbal ingredients have the effects of nourishing the liver and kidneys, detoxifying and removing dampness, and can be used to treat patients with elevated transaminases in various chronic liver diseases. As long as patients use enzyme-lowering drugs correctly, transaminases can be effectively controlled, and the enzyme-lowering treatment effect is long-lasting and stable. Moreover, Chinese medicine for lowering enzymes is much better than Western medicine in controlling rebound after drug discontinuation.

2. Simply lowering the enzyme level to treat high alanine aminotransferase is only a symptomatic treatment. Therefore, while protecting the liver and lowering the enzyme level, it is also necessary to take "fundamental" measures to address the cause of the disease. For example, to treat high transaminase levels caused by hepatitis B, antiviral and immune adjustment treatments must be performed while lowering the enzyme, and only by treating both the symptoms and the root cause can the ultimate treatment goal be achieved.

Do not blindly use drugs to lower transaminase. While lowering the enzyme, first find out what causes the high transaminase.
