How to care for depression

How to care for depression

Many people are familiar with depression, which has a great impact on people's psychology and physiology. Nursing is very important for people with depression. Nursing for patients with depression should be multi-faceted, including not only living and dietary care, but psychological care is equally important.

1.Diet and daily life care

Depressed patients often have a decreased appetite due to their low mood. Some patients want to achieve the goal of passive death by refusing to eat. The depression care for this type of patients mainly starts with diet, so attention should be paid to strengthening the patient's dietary care. On the other hand, patients are often bedridden due to depression, so more attention should be paid to encouraging them to get up and move around, and to urge and assist them in taking care of their personal hygiene. Necessary and appropriate personal hygiene can boost the patient's spirits.

2. Sleep care

Patients with depression often suffer from insomnia, with difficulty falling asleep and early awakening being the most common symptoms. They often feel worried and anxious before going to bed. At this time, family members should stay by the patient's side to accompany, comfort and advise him/her. This will give the patient a certain sense of security, make it easier to eliminate anxiety, and help the patient sleep. Patients with depression often wake up early, and most of them commit suicide in the early morning. Therefore, in the daily care of depression, patients who wake up early must be given medication to control their sleep time.

3. Entertainment and leisure

For patients with mild illness, they should be encouraged to participate in some labor within their capacity. When the patient is able to complete a task, depression care should give encouragement to enhance their confidence in life and make them feel that they are still useful people. Some depressed patients often use constant work to punish themselves and atone for their sins. At this time, they need to be advised to rest to prevent overwork or collapse. You can listen to relaxing and happy music, or dance more often. You can also take the patient to the park for a walk or to the suburbs for activities. These activities are very helpful in improving the patient's depressive symptoms.
