Can pulpitis heal itself without treatment?

Many people wonder whether pulpitis can heal itself if it is not treated. In fact, if you suffer from pulpitis, you must never let it develop, because it may develop into more adverse effects later. It is not an oral disease that can heal itself.

1. The pulp is located in the center of the tooth. The outer layer is surrounded by enamel, dentin and cementum. It is only connected with the periapical tissue at the apical foramen. The nerves of the dental pulp come from the trigeminal nerve. The nerve fibers in the pulp cavity have a low stress threshold and are more sensitive to pressure. Moreover, the tissue pressure of the dental pulp tissue itself is higher than that of other organs.

2. Toothache may be caused by inflammation of the dental pulp, which is commonly known as the dental nerve. Pulpitis is mostly caused by caries, but caries will not cause pain at the beginning. Pain only occurs when caries develops close to the pulp, but it often occurs after exposure to hot, cold, sour, or sweet foods. When caries develops to the point of causing pulpitis, the pain is very severe. Pulpitis pain has several characteristics: First, it is spontaneous pain, which occurs without any stimulation. Second, pulpitis often causes pain at night, and the pain is so severe that one cannot fall asleep in the dead of night. Third, the pain of pulpitis is not localized. The patient cannot tell which tooth hurts, and it is often on one side or in the entire area.

3. Once the dental pulp becomes inflamed, it will not improve. The progression of pulpitis can cause the death of the dental pulp, which is medically called pulp necrosis. The pain of pulpitis must be treated by a doctor with tooth analgesic treatment. Some patients feel that the toothache goes away after a few days and think that it is healed. In fact, it may be that pulpitis is developing towards pulp necrosis. We cannot simply assume that the toothache is gone and the dental disease is healed. Whether pulpitis or apical periodontitis, there are acute and chronic phases. The pain is severe in the acute phase, and the acute phase can turn into the chronic phase, during which the pain will be relieved and alleviated; the chronic phase can also turn into the acute phase, during which the pain will become severe again.

4. Root canal treatment is a treatment process for lesions of teeth, pulp, and root apex. Root canal therapy is a treatment method that removes necrotic substances in the root canal, performs appropriate disinfection, and fills the root canal to remove the adverse stimulation of the root canal contents to the tissues around the root apex, prevent the occurrence of periapical lesions, or promote the healing of periapical lesions.

5. The process of root canal treatment is that the doctor uses special instruments for root canal treatment to completely remove the infected pulp, infected dentin and toxic decomposition products, tightly fill the root canal, isolate bacteria from entering the root canal and causing reinfection, prevent the occurrence of periapical lesions or promote the healing of periapical lesions.
