The role of whole blood C-reactive protein in diseases

If we want to keep our body healthy, we must stay away from many diseases, so that our body can stay healthy every day. Therefore, many people want to fully understand the role of whole blood C-reactive protein in the disease. The following content introduces this aspect to many people. You can have a comprehensive understanding of the following content.

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a member of the pentameric protein family and an important component of the innate immune system. Since CRP can bind to the C polysaccharide of Streptococcus pneumoniae through phosphocholine (PC) residues, it is named CRP. CRP is an acute phase protein that responds nonspecifically to infection, inflammation, and tissue damage. In recent years, studies have found that CRP can not only be used for the diagnosis of inflammation and the differentiation of bacterial and viral infections, but more importantly, CRP plays an extremely important role in the body's defense response, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease and other diseases.

CRP and cardiovascular disease (CVD) Current studies have found that atherosclerosis (AS) is not just the deposition of lipids in the blood vessel walls, but a chronic inflammatory response process. Prospective studies have clearly shown that CRP is an independent predictor of the presence and future occurrence of CVD. The latex enhanced agglutination immunoturbidimetry method can be used to measure CRP, which can detect lower levels of CRP, namely high sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP). CRP levels are positively correlated with waist circumference and body mass index (BMI). In addition, CRP levels in smokers are significantly higher than those in non-smokers. Currently, CRP has become an important predictive indicator for CVD. CRP predicts the occurrence of CVD independently of other traditional predictive indicators, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, smoking, obesity, etc. Moreover, the combined use of hs-CRP and total cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio can predict the occurrence of CVD more strongly than a single factor.

After a comprehensive understanding of the role of whole blood C-reactive protein in diseases, I believe many people have gained more knowledge and understanding of this aspect. Whole blood C-reactive protein plays a relatively large role in diseases. Therefore, each of us must pay attention to the standards in this regard to ensure that we stay away from many diseases.
