What is the reason for stinging pain in the urethra?

I believe many of my friends find it strange to feel a stinging sensation at the urethral opening. But it is very common for some reproductive diseases and urinary system diseases. For example, prostatitis, urethritis, conjunctivitis, etc. will all cause a stinging sensation in the urethra, and what you need to do is to seek timely treatment.

1. Male non-gonococcal urethritis

(1) Symptoms include urethral itching, burning sensation and pain during urination. A few patients have frequent urination and a slightly red urethral opening. In the morning, there is a small amount of mucous secretion at the urethral opening or only a crust membrane, or the crotch is dirty and the urine flow is bifurcated when urinating. Some patients need to squeeze hard with their hands to make the secretions overflow from the urethral opening. The symptoms are similar to those of gonococcal urethritis, but the degree is milder. Some patients are asymptomatic. Patients are also infected with gonorrhea.

(2) Complications ① Epididymitis: The infection extends along the vas deferens to the epididymis, with typical symptoms of urethritis and epididymitis coexisting. The most common is acute epididymitis, which is mostly unilateral and often caused by trachoma organism variants. ② Prostatitis: Subacute prostatitis is more common, while chronic prostatitis may be asymptomatic or have dull perineal pain and penile pain. ③ Reoter syndrome: It occurs in 0.8%-3% of NGU patients, more common in men than in women. It includes urethritis, polyarthritis, conjunctivitis, etc.

2. Female urogenital infections often spread from the cervix to other parts. (1) Mucopurulent cervicitis is characterized by increased leucorrhea, no swelling or erosion of the cervix, but the clinical symptoms are not obvious. (2) Urethritis is characterized by burning sensation in the urethra or frequent urination. Examination of the urethral opening shows congestion, slight redness or normal. Extrusion of the urethra reveals secretions. Many patients have no symptoms. (3) Combined pelvic inflammatory disease includes salpingitis and endometritis. This disease may lead to ectopic pregnancy or infertility. 3. Neonatal conjunctivitis and pneumonia are caused by transnatal infection. For mothers with trachoma variant cervicitis, 40% to 50% of their newborns may suffer from conjunctivitis, which usually occurs within 5 to 14 days after birth. Neonatal pneumonia occurs within 2 to 3 weeks after birth, but most are diagnosed at 6 weeks. D-K trachoma variants can be isolated from conjunctival nasopharyngeal and tracheal secretions.
