Narrowing of cervical spine?

Most people are familiar with cervical spondylosis. Nowadays, many people suffer from cervical spondylosis at a young age due to work reasons. Narrowing of the cervical intervertebral space is a common phenomenon of cervical spondylosis. Most people who want to treat the narrowing of the cervical intervertebral space adopt conservative treatment, or can use traditional Chinese medicine hot compress, massage, acupuncture and other treatments. Strengthen physical exercise in daily life. It is best not to maintain a posture for a long time to avoid excessive fatigue.

How to self-diagnose cervical spondylosis

Cervical spondylosis, also known as cervical spondylosis, is a general term for cervical osteoarthritis, hypertrophic cervical spondylitis, cervical radiculitis, and cervical disc herniation. It is a disease based on degenerative pathological changes.

Cervical spondylosis is mainly caused by cervical disc herniation, cervical uncovertebral joint instability, uncovertebral bone hyperplasia and other factors on the basis of cervical vertebrae degeneration, which leads to obstruction of cervical artery blood flow and thus causes insufficient blood supply to the vertebral-basilar artery.

According to the following two methods, we can preliminarily judge whether there is a problem with our cervical spine:

1. Check the range of motion of the cervical spine: slowly rotate your head in all directions to see if there is any pain in your neck.

2. Check the problematic part of the cervical spine: lower your head slightly, starting from the most prominent seventh cervical vertebra upwards, and gently press the cervical vertebra and the left and right sides with your hands.

If tenderness occurs, or if you feel a hard lump that is like a lock or sand, it may be a problem with your cervical spine.

The characteristic of this disease is dizziness when the head and neck rotate, which is also called cervical vertigo. This is because the rotation of the head mainly occurs between C1 and C2, where the vertebral artery is most susceptible to compression when turning the head.

To prevent cervical spondylosis, measures should be taken from both the cause and the predisposing factors to effectively reduce the incidence rate and prevent recurrence in cured patients. The cervical vertebra is part of the spine and should be prevented from the perspective of the entire spine.

Why does cervical spondylosis cause numbness in hands and feet?

The cervical spine stimulates, pulls and compresses the spinal nerve roots, causing reactive edema of the spinal nerve roots and surrounding tissues, root canal stenosis and adhesions, and producing symptoms of finger numbness. Due to the different affected areas, the numbness occurs in different locations. If cervical spondylosis compresses the sixth cervical nerve root, it will cause numbness of the thumb; if it compresses the seventh cervical nerve root, it will cause numbness of the index finger, middle finger, and ring finger; if it compresses the eighth cervical nerve root, it will cause numbness of the little finger. In severe cases, it will also cause atrophy of the hand muscles and an inability to hold things tightly.

What is the treatment for numbness in hands and feet caused by cervical spondylosis?

The numbness in the hands caused by cervical spondylosis must be taken seriously by patients. If not treated in time, it will seriously affect the patient's daily life. From a pathological analysis, patients should first go to a regular hospital for examination to see what type of cervical spondylosis they have. Then carry out systematic and effective treatment based on the root cause of the disease.

Experts remind: Patients who experience numbness in the hands due to cervical spondylosis must not "act on their own" and use so-called "secret recipes" for treatment. This has no scientific basis and will delay the best time for treatment. To cure arm numbness, you must first cure cervical spondylosis. You can choose physical therapy. It is recommended to go to a regular large hospital for treatment. In life:

1. Choose a suitable pillow when sleeping. Your neck depends on the pillow. A good cervical pillow is the key to relieving and treating cervical spondylosis.

2. Don’t work at a desk for a long time. Move your cervical spine and twist your neck every one or two hours.
