Which acupoints are better to massage for children with fever?

Children are prone to fever problems in normal times. Fever in children is actually quite common. Most of the time, it is caused by insufficient yang in the body or excessive yin. Therefore, we should pay attention to expel the cold from the child and enhance the immune function. Appropriate massage can be used to relieve the symptoms.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that children have the physiological characteristics of "excess yang and insufficient yin", so many acute and chronic diseases can cause fever symptoms. Pediatric massage is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy and is widely used in pediatrics. It mainly uses some specific techniques to act on specific parts of the child's body surface to adjust the body's physiological and pathological states. Therefore, pediatric massage can be used to treat children's fever, diarrhea, enuresis, cough, myopia, constipation and other diseases. Fever is one of the common diseases in children. Children's central nervous system is not fully developed and their ability to regulate body temperature is poor. The younger they are, the worse their regulation function is. However, children have a better tolerance to fever and recover faster after timely treatment.

Traditional Chinese medicine divides children's fever into several types according to the causes, including exogenous fever, yin deficiency fever, and food injury fever. The child introduced above was diagnosed with exogenous wind-cold and fever, and the massage methods such as Qingfei Meridian (push from the fingerprint of the last segment of the ring finger to the fingertip) 300 times, Qingtianhe Water (push from the transverse line of the wrist to the transverse line of the elbow on the middle of the inner side of the forearm) 100 times, Kaitianmen (push from the center of the child's eyebrows to the edge of the front hairline) 100 times, Tui Kan Gong (push from the center of the child's eyebrows along the eyebrow ends to both sides to the tip of the eyebrow) 100 times, and Ru Taiyang (press and rub the temple behind the tip of the eyebrow) 100 times were used to achieve the purpose of promoting lung function, relieving exterior symptoms and reducing fever. Generally, the body temperature of such children can be lowered after one massage treatment. The temperature will fluctuate slightly in the afternoon. After the same treatment on the next day, the temperature can basically be controlled within the normal range.

Clinically, most children's fevers are caused by external factors, so if the child has a low fever, you can try the above-mentioned methods. This is convenient and can avoid the side effects of drugs. For these children, the onset of illness is relatively acute, and the effect of massage treatment is better.

The child has a long-term low fever, which Chinese medicine believes is caused by deficiency heat due to long-term illness damaging the yin. The treatment generally adopts massage methods such as rubbing Nei Laogong, clearing Tianhe water, pressing and rubbing Zusanli, and pushing Yongquan. It can regulate the functions of internal organs, lead heat downward, and clear away false heat, thereby achieving the goal of curing the root cause of the disease and also achieving the effect of prevention.

Children who have a fever due to food poisoning are mostly due to insufficient spleen in young children, coupled with unclean or excessive diet, which damages the spleen and stomach, causing stagnation of milk and food, and accumulation of heat. By clearing the spleen and stomach, retreating the six internal organs, clearing the large intestine, massaging the abdomen and other techniques, the purpose of clearing away heat, digesting food, relieving stagnation and stimulating appetite can be achieved.

Here is a reminder that no matter what the cause of the fever is, you must go to the hospital for formal treatment.
